Diapers

Non-biodegradable waste

Made up of Plastic layers, Super-absorbent polymers, and Synthetic fibres.

These materials can take 300–500 years to decompose.

A single baby can use 4,000–6,000 diapers

A woman may use 10,000+ sanitary products in her lifetime

When dumped openly, they release chemicals into soil.

Burning them releases toxic gases like dioxins.

Unlike normal plastic:

  • These wastes are bio-medical in nature
  • Difficult to recycle

If someone wants to reduce impact:

  • Cloth diapers
  • Reusable cloth pads
  • Menstrual cups
  • Biodegradable sanitary pads (made from banana fiber, bamboo, etc.)
